Setting up Canon cameras
Step-by-step guide to configure FTP on Canon EOS cameras.
This guide covers FTP setup for Canon EOS cameras with built-in WiFi and FTP capabilities.
Compatible Canon cameras
Most Canon cameras with built-in WiFi and FTP support work with Camera Sync, including:
- Canon EOS R series (R3, R5, R6, R7, R8, R10, etc.)
- Canon EOS-1D X Mark II/III
- Canon EOS 5D Mark IV
- Canon EOS 6D Mark II
- Canon EOS 90D, 80D, 7D Mark II
Setup instructions
Step 1: Access network settings
- Press the Menu button on your camera
- Navigate to the Wrench/Settings tab
- Find Network settings or Communication settings
- Select Built-in wireless or WiFi settings
Step 2: Connect to WiFi
- Choose WiFi function → FTP transfer
- Select your WiFi network from the list
- Enter your WiFi password
- Wait for the connection to establish
Step 3: Configure FTP server
- In FTP settings, select Set up server
- Enter the following details:

Step 4: Enter login credentials
- Select Login settings
- Enter your Camera Sync username
- Enter your Camera Sync password
- Set the target folder to
/(root)
Step 5: Enable automatic transfer
- Go to Auto send or Auto transfer
- Enable automatic transfer
- Choose when to transfer (during shooting, during playback, etc.)
Testing the connection
- Take a test photo
- Check your Camera Sync dashboard for the upload
- Verify the photo appears in your Google Photos album
Troubleshooting
Connection failed: Double-check your WiFi password and FTP credentials.
Slow transfers: Ensure you're on a stable WiFi network. 5GHz networks typically perform better.
Photos not appearing: Check that automatic transfer is enabled and your camera is connected to WiFi.
