Getting Started with Camera Sync
Learn how to set up Camera Sync and start syncing photos in minutes.
Welcome to Camera Sync! This guide will walk you through the initial setup process so you can start automatically syncing photos from your camera to Google Photos.
What you'll need
Before getting started, make sure you have:
- A camera with built-in FTP, FTPS, or SFTP support
- WiFi connectivity for your camera
- A Google account
Step 1: Sign up with Google
- Visit camerasync.app and click Get Started Free
- Sign in with your Google account
- Grant Camera Sync permission to upload to your Google Photos
That's it for account setup! Camera Sync automatically:
- Creates a dedicated "Camera Sync" album in your Google Photos
- Generates your unique FTP credentials
- Sends you a welcome email with your connection details
Step 2: Get your credentials
After signing up, you'll see a welcome screen with your FTP connection details:
- Server: ftp.camerasync.app
- Port: Use 21 for FTP or 2022 for SFTP
- Username: Your unique username (format: cam-xxxxx)
- Password: Your secure password
You can always find these credentials in your dashboard and in your welcome email.
Step 3: Configure your camera
Enter the FTP credentials into your camera's network/FTP settings. The exact steps vary by camera model, but generally:
- Go to your camera's network or wireless settings
- Find FTP or file transfer settings
- Enter the server, port, username, and password
- Enable automatic transfer (if available)
See our camera-specific setup guides for detailed instructions.
Step 4: Start shooting!
That's it! Take a photo and watch it appear in your Google Photos album within seconds. The sync happens automatically whenever your camera is connected to WiFi.
